Unmissable Autumn Adult + YA Releases 2026

Books to fall in love with this Autumn…
Ah, the first whispers of autumn are within reach! As my frequent readers will know, this is the beginning of the seasons where I truly come to life. I get the opposite of seasonal depression—rather than getting it when it’s colder and rainy, I get it through the summer months. As soon as I start seeing earth tones and pumpkins in shop windows and get my first whiff of anything cinnamon-flavoured, I am ready to be immersed in everything the cosy seasons (the Ber seasons, if you will) have to offer. This year, I’ve got such a brilliant list of recommendations and reads on my TBR, plus some that I’ve already had the chance to read (and loved) to suggest for your to-read list this season. Grab a cup of something warm, get your reading app ready and read on!
Adult Picks

Grim Tidings by B.K. Borison
We return to the gloriously addictive world of the Ghosted books by one of my all-time favourite authors, B.K., this September, when a runaway grim reaper tries to save a life and clashes with a skeptical Guardian, forcing them to form an unlikely partnership beyond the grave. I am beyond thrilled to dive into this when it arrives as someone who grew up reading fallen angel/angel stories, and with that special, enigmatic touch Becs has with every single book, it’s likely to be in my very favourite books of the year. Out September 15th.

Fangs With Benefits by Kath Richards
When human, Molly, discovers Vampire-Elijah’s secret, he realizes that being human isn’t as easy as he thought. She’ll help him act the part if he’ll help her get promoted, but when they fall into a colleagues-with-benefits arrangement-no feelings involved-can they keep things professional? This one climbed up my autumn TBR so fast when I discovered it scrolling instagram. I am such a sucker (pun-intended) for vampire reads this time of year. Out September 24th.

Disenchanted by Lucy Jane Wood
Sage Hemlock has no interest in embracing her witchy side. But when a strange historical book accidentally triggers a curse, Sage’s quiet, small-town life is suddenly overrun and magic is running rife. A beanstalk grows in her garden, and her friend and co-worker Casimir starts to look an awful lot like a handsome prince—fairytales are coming true. I recently finished (and adored) this gorgeously witchy book that had me feeling every cosy and wholesome feeling. You need a LJW book in your life this autumn. Out September 10th.

Free Falling by Lyla Sage
We return to the haunted town of Sweetwater Peak for another love story, this one featuring an antique shop owner and a farmer who fake a relationship to save their legacies…but will they be able to fool the ghosts of their past? I’ve yet to start Lyla’s new series, but do have the first in the series that I am hoping to tuck into this autumn when it’s perfect, quiet reading season and I can have a bit more time to fully immerse myself and enjoy it as much as I know I will. Out September 22nd.

Love Felt Like This by Julie Olivia
A grumpy rock star and a joyful children’s show creator revive television magic in this cozy small-town romance. Griffin Harvey lives his life in the spotlight. Reluctantly. The brooding famous singer-songwriter is on the cusp of composing his sophomore album . . . if only he could find the notes—enter Beverly, and Griffin is singing a new tune. I’ve not had a chance to become a Julie Olivia reader yet but I am changing that this autumn! Her books always look like they’re a warm hug of a novel. Out September 8th.

Bound/Unbound by Ali Hazelwood
A reluctant con artist and a professor with too many secrets are bound by an arcane text—in more ways than one. A five-thousand-year-old woman who has outlived empires. A doctor who has spent his life fighting death. They fates collide in a blood game of vengeance. Ali Hazelwood’s intoxicating paranormal romance duology is finallyt together for the first time in print and ebook! I am dying to get my pre-order through as a die-hard Ali fan (well, and watch The Love Hypothesis) this autumn! Out October 6th.

Reap & Sow by Charlotte B. Plumb
A young woman bargains with a demon to save her brothers, only to lose her heart in this slow-burn romantasy about dark magic, unlikely love, and the imperfect beauty of mortality. Rich with gothic atmosphere, sharp wit, and simmering romantic tension, this stunning fantasy book has enthralled me from the moment I found out it existed! I am so excited for this one to land in my mailbox. Out October 8th.

Alma Vampires by Elena Armas
In a brand new paranormal romance series from Elena Armas, Valle Cepeda’s life changes drastically over the course of a winter break, when she goes from being an Ivy League scholarship student one day to inheriting a fortune from the mother she’s never met by the next. The fate of Alma, a coveted fashion empire, is now in Val’s hands. I have a sneaky suspicion this one is a pick for a book subscription I am a part of later this year, and I am so here for it if it is! Out November 17th.

If Not You by Ellen O’Clover
During the month of travel required for the pitch, rivals Mattie and Campbell are thrown together as fierce competitors and, slowly, as unexpected witnesses to each other’s hidden wounds and softest parts. As their trip barrels toward its final pitch, Mattie is forced to confront the increasingly obvious the story she’s crafted for her and Campbell over the years might need a new ending. I’ve got Elllen’s Heartbreak Hotel coming up on my TBR as I’ve heard nothing but amazing things, and this looks to be another beauty. Out September 15th.

With All My Haunted Heart by Isabel Sterling
Steadily losing clients to the new DIY-magic shop on the other side of town, Pippa Ainsley is getting desperate. Bookstore owner Rosie Mayfield wants a love of her own, but it’s not meant to be, because of her family’s curse. To break it, she conjures a ghost who will break her curse, but for a cost—she has to brew a potion to help him transition to the other side. The problem? There’s only one person who hates Rosie in all of Heartwood Hollow, Jack Haggerty, and she needs his help to complete the required task. Pumpkin Spice and Promises by Nora Everly
Elizabeth Starling has one goal this fall—save the family farm. The plan? Throw the best harvest festival Sweetbriar has ever seen. Disguised as a human sacrifice for the brutal werewolf packs who run the land, she’s there to uncover the truth of her mother’s disappearance and destroy as many wolves as she can. Big Bad Wolf by Laurie Gilmore

Her love life is basically non-existent, and she keeps away from the whispered gossip that travels through Maple Hollow. Until a chance encounter with Rafe. Bad Words by Ríoghnach Robinson
Parker Navarro’s debut novel was meant to define his career – until critic Selina Chan’s blistering review made it the flop of the decade. Four years later, his new book is his shot at redemption; for Selina, reviewing him again is a professional risk she can’t refuse. When her second takedown ignites a viral feud, both their fortunes shift overnight in this sharp and deeply felt debut about art, ambition, and the connections that both inspire and undo us, that I have already pre-ordered! Out October 10th.
