I was reading through my email subscriptions from Blogger/RSS feeds when I saw that Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner had made a super fun A-to-Z bookish survey for a fun Friday! Looking though the survey and the questions…it looked like SO much fun and gave me something fun to do on an otherwise dull day, so Playlist at the ready, I answered all the awesome bookish questions and got to reminisce on some old favourite reads!
Author you’ve read the most books from:
Judging my my massive collection of her Morganville Vampire Series, I’m going to say it’s probably Rachel Caine. Fifteen books this November, too! I will never get tired of reading about Morganville. Seriously.
Best Sequel Ever:
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. I finished Anna and the French Kiss this week for my Sweet Summer Challenge and found I had the eBook of Lola, so started reading ASAP. Hooked.
Currently Reading:
Truly, Madly, Deadly by Hannah Jayne. Thrills, mystery…it’s like Pretty Little Liars all over again, except instead of texts, it’s a note.
Drink of Choice While Reading:
Iced Coffees. Give me a Starbucks or Costa any day, and I’m super happy.
E-reader or Physical Book?
Without a doubt a Paperback girl. I just get a better connection with a physical book and find I’ll read it longer and stay focused if it’s not inside an E-reader.
Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:
Most of the High School books I’ve read are either Fantasy or Paranormal. But aside from the genres; I’m going to say it’s a tie between Patch from Hush, Hush or if I got to choose one that wasn’t in high school themselves, maybe Roger from Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour.
Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:
The Host by Stephenie Meyer, definitely. Twilight was like a love or hate book, but I’m glad I put that out the way because The Host was amazing.
Hidden Gem Book:
Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti really snuck up on me. Loved it.
Important Moment in your Reading Life:
Getting a signed book from my favourite author; Rachel Caine, was definitely my favourite moment of my reading life.
Just Finished:
Ostrich by Matt Greene.
Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:
I’m not too interested in Historical books without a paranormal aspect, and definitely not anything erotic or with tons of swearing.
Longest Book You’ve Read:
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. But this might change soon when I pick up book one of the Game of Thrones series?
Major book hangover because of:
Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. Definitely.
Number of Bookcases You Own:
One big one, one slightly smaller, a narrow one and my ARC’s are in a separate pile on my desk. Phew, that’s a lot.
One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. It’s without a doubt the book I’ve adored the most in all of my YA-reading. There was just something about it that made me love it SO much.
Preferred Place To Read:
In bed or whilst listening to music, like The Civil Wars or SafetySuit.
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
‘Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.’ That was one of the most emotion moments in reading The Fault in Our Stars that made me know it was so special. Of course, TFiOS had so many quotable moments, but that one made my number one.
Reading Regret:
I really regret not picking up any of Stephanie Perkins books until recently. She’s a writing genius.
Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):
The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I just received an ARC of The Iron Traitor so that will be SO amazing to read and catch up on a series I loved.
Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern.
Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Susane Colasanti. < THE MOST AMAZING AUTHOR EVER.
Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. < I agree so much with Jamie on this one. Want it!
Worst Bookish Habit:
Forgetting where I put my bookmark when I’m reading or getting too enveloped in a storyworld that I forget it’s 3am.
X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
Die For Me by Amy Plum.
Your latest book purchase:
ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
My current read; Truly, Madly, Deadly by Hannah Jayne. 2am! Well, I have insomnia, so maybe it wasn’t so bad reading until that hour…
Visit Jamie at her blog and YOU can participate too!
happy reading!
I love this survey! omg, we have the same answer for X marks the spot, weird:) I did one myself too: http://evelinesbooks.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-to-z-bookish-survey.html
I also put The Host as the book I'm most happy I took a chance on! After the abysmal book that was Breaking Dawn, I really had lost all faith in Meyer. But then came The Host, and I'm so glad I read it – it's definitely her best book to date.
And I'm so jealous you've had your favourite author sign a book! That'd be exciting! I've never met an author before, so anxiously await the day that I do.
I'm a new follower due to your survey response 🙂 Most of the books you've mentioned is either in my TBR pile or wish list. I've got one of Stephanie Perkins books, I think Anna and I've got a few books of the Morganville Vampires, but yet to read them.
Regarding e-reader vs physical, I was like that too, but I ended up getting used to reading ebooks and I just love it just as much now, it's just a matter of getting used to.
I really enjoyed The Host, I love the plot lines of Meyer's stories, just not the writing. Cecilia Ahern is one of my all time favourite Authors, one of my favourite books is PS I Love You, OMG did that book make me cry like a baby!
My A-Z Survey
