My 2021 Highly Anticipated Reads

Welcome back and a very Happy New Year!
I am delighted to be back here with you all. I’ve genuinely missed getting to talk (well, mostly ramble) about books on the internet. It might just be my favourite thing. It’s a new year, which means – by default – a new three hundred and sixty-five days of highly anticipated reads! I spent the past few days combing through my Goodreads lists for my favourites, usually around ten books, but this year I had to expand it to fifteen (don’t judge me, I honestly couldn’t choose) so I’m so excited to share them with you today! 2021 is officially going to be the year of excellent plot twists, glowing main character moments and slow-burn loves that last a lifetime.

In No Particular Order…
We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Hailed as a romantic comedy and full of flirting and fighting (with a dash of hopeless romantic moments) I am beyond excited for this read! It comes out in June (so there’s a bit of a wait) but it’s going straight in my cart.
Pumpkin by Julie Murphy
Anything that Julie writes goes straight on my bookshelf. Pumpkin? It’s no exception. I was over the moon to be a huge part of Dumplin’s release in the UK when it came out (with a Dolly Parton CD and tiara) so this series has a special place in my heart. It’s out May 25th!
Sunkissed by Kasie West
Kasie is the certified queen of YA Romance, right? She can write about anything and I’d love it. Sunkissed looks so gorgeous (and sounds right up my street!) so I can’t wait for this to be in my life. Out May 4th, in perfect time for Summer reading!
Some Girls Do by Jennifer Dugan
This YA contemporary queer romance was one of the first books that struck heart-eyes for me this year. The cover is goals, and the plot is even sweeter. I’ve got a long wait until May 18th to read this, but rest assured, it’ll be here release day and ready to be devoured.
May the Best Man Win by Z.R. Ellor
We love a romantic sports rivalry with dashes of charm and butterflies here. When I tell you that this is the sort of read that I will read no questions asked, grabby hands ready, believe me! Another May 18th release, so a bit of a wait, but it’ll be oh-so-worth it!
Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee
Ever since hearing about the meaning in my favourite Christmas movie The Holiday, I have been obsessed with the phrase meet cute. So when I saw this beauty in the May release list, I immediately needed to see what it was about. Described as a sort of Becky Albertalli read, I just knew that comparison would mean it’s solid gold.
Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
This sweet Parisian-vibes read is out in April (my birthday month!) on the 6th, perfect for Springtime reading. When I read the blurb, words like ballerina and France and elite summer ballet program, I just knew this was potentially going to be one of my favourite reads of the year.
Mina and the Undead by Amy McCaw
This Paranormal read is going to be epic. I just know it. I’ve been lucky enough to have a copy of this stunning read sent to me for review, so you just know I’ll be spilling all the details very soon. This is out April 1st!
Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado
As soon as I saw there was a plus-size rep in this novel, I had to know more as a fellow plus-size girl. Hailed as a coming-of-age story with romance, life and family topics, I know I’ll be in love with this from the first page. It’s out February 2nd, so not too long to wait either!
Some Other Now by Sarah Everett
Family, loss and love set over the course of two summers = instant want-to-read. There’s something about this type of novel, a summer kind of love, navigating loss and family topics, that instantly makes me want to read it. Out Feb 23rd, and going straight in my lap!
Like Home by Louisa Onomé
The vibe of this novel spoke poetry to me. It’s cosy cover and equally delightful set-scene of friendship, small neighbourhoods and community, make for a spellbinding mix. I can’t wait to read this on February 23rd.
A Taste for Love by Jennifer Yen
Throw baking and romance and family relationships (with a little competition thrown in) and I am sold! Out February 2nd, less than a month away!
You Have A Match by Emma Lord
The author of the lovely Tweet Cute is back with another beloved story of romance, sisterhood and family! This looks like a book that I’ll be falling head over heels for. And it’s out so soon, January 12th! BRB, going to pre-order this!
She’s Too Pretty to Burn by Wendy Heard
An electric romance set on the art scene, inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray? Excuse me, take my money now! I am LIVING for this book. Out March 30th, which needs to roll around faster! What an incredible sounding novel. And that cover? BEAUTIFUL.
Counting Down With You by Tashie Bhuiyan
Okay, THIS right here is my most anticipated read of the year. I want to read this beauty SO BADLY. It’s out May 4th, so near yet so far. There’s fake dating, aka one of my favourite tropes ever. And this sweet romance is just begging to be read. I literally can’t wait!
So there you have it! Fifteen reads (of many) that I want in my life this year. Let’s hope that 2021 brings us all some joy, happiness, health and very incredible books.
Let me know in the comments or on twitter @LittleMemoirs what your want-to-read books are this year!
happy reading!
