Pretty Little Memoirs turns 10!

A decade ago, an almost 16 year old Becca was looking for a place to express her love of books. The name came to me almost instantly. If you didn’t know, Pretty Little Memoirs comes from Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. From the day that I posted my first review—of Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine—my life would be changed forever.

So, what's happened in the last ten years?

If I were to sit here and detail each and every opportunity this blog has given me, I’d be here forever—that’s how much support, love and kindness I’ve been given, and I am so thankful for it all. I cannot believe how such a small idea in my head turned into a site that thousands of book lovers visit every month, that there are actually people that read what I think of books. This blog has given me friends that I might never have met before, too. Taken me to London, to publisher buildings and calls with authors—the stuff that was (I thought) my sixteen year old self’s dreams, never a reality I could live in.

I can still remember the days of finishing a book on my shelf, opening up my laptop and typing a quick review, then launching back into school work or life tasks. I never thought that books (and subsequently, the world of literature) would become PLM: a multi-award winning book blog, reviews published in print worldwide, making dozens of friends and connections along the way.
I’m so proud of how my blog has grown, especially in recent years.  I will never be ungrateful for anything anyone has ever done for me, for my blog: you are the reasons I’m still so passionate about it. Publishers, authors, bloggers, family and friends—thank you endlessly. Being an author has always been my dream—and still is—and each time I get to read another incredible novel, I’m reminded just how amazing books are. How they have the power to change peoples lives. I know they have changed mine.

So here’s to the ten, most phenomenal years—and to the next years to come, wherever they take me, us, and everyone who has been a part of my journey in the bookish world. I love you. And remember, the storyline never ends here.
