What I’ll Be Reading This Summer (YA Edition)

What I'll Be Reading This Summer

Picture this: it’s mid-Summer, the sun is high in the cloudless sky and you’re sitting in your little nook in the garden, book in hand without a care in the world. That’s my ideal kind of Summer, chill and hopefully not too warm (hey, I’m an Autumn weather lover, okay?!) for these blissful few months when the atmosphere seems to relax. But most importantly, there will always be a book in my hand. It’s not truly Summer without a “beach read” or “vacation read”, is it? That seems to be a global thing, even for non-readers. Most people take a book on holiday, browsing a few pages on sunloungers or pool-side. My ideal kind of Summer read is full of holiday-esque fun, cutesy romances and definitely something that makes me feel happy. So I’ve compiled a list of YA reads that are out over the next few months, perfect for that Summer kind of feeling.

Let's talk about these reads!

XOXO by Axie Oh

As soon as I stumbled across this book, my heart just went CRAZY. I haven’t added a book to my TBR so fast in my life. Jeez! That cover, that synopsis, the VIBES. I cannot wait to be reading this in the summer months – as soon as it’s in my hands, nothing else will matter!

Up All Night: 13 Stories between Sunset and Sunrise by Laura Silverman, Brandy Colbert, Kathleen Glasgow, Maurene Goo, Tiffany D. Jackson, Amanda Joy, Nina LaCour, Karen M. McManus, Anna Meriano, Marieke Nijkamp, Kayla Whaley, Julian Winters, Francesca Zappia

ALL those authors wrote a book together?! WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! I regret to say that I *accidentally* found this book when I was making this post. How did I miss this?! I love these authors, especially Tiffany, Maurene, Nina and Karen. This is going to be one of those books that I re-read, I can tell. It reminds me a little of the “Summer Days and Summer Nights” book and I am HERE FOR IT.

Where It All Lands by Jennie Wexler

Dual timelines, debut author AND my favourite genre?! Okay, I see this book quietly sneaking into my TBR, looking all perfect for me. I can without a doubt say that this will be read quite quickly.

In the Same Boat by Holly Green

Promising a swoony romance and a striking heroine, this book ticks most of my great loves in a YA book. Plus, with the adventure addition to the storyline, it makes for a perfect read for those days when you’re stuck inside and wish you could get out and explore, finding the adventure in the book as a quiet way of escapism.

Between You, Me, and the Honeybees by Amelia Diane Coombs

If there was a contest for the cutest cover, this would win hands down. Even as deathly-afraid as I am of bees (and any winged creature) I cannot wait to own this beauty. Secrets, Californian summer and romance = SIGN ME UP.

Speak for Yourself by Lana Wood Johnson

This book has such a unique synopsis! A main character that made an app, falling for the person that she was supposed to have set her friend up with, academic competition…I mean, that sounds like a Netflix movie that I’d watch and I am totally ready to start this book on release day!

The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther

This is one of my top-three most anticipated reads this Summer! I am so excited to start it when it’s out. Compared to a Jenny Han novel, taking place in Martha’s Vineyard, family and romance themes – it’s just a perfect all-rounder for me. Get in my hands!

Simone Breaks All the Rules (Simone Breaks All the Rules #1) by Debbie Rigaud

And last, but by no means least, is my MOST anticipated read of the summer, and by chance, it’s just arrived on my doorstep thanks to the lovely Scholastic UK team! That cover is even more beautiful in person, giving me actual butterflies! I can’t wait to read Simone’s story and delve into this gorgeous novel.

So what do you think of my Summer reads? Are any of them on your TBR, too? Pretty please let me know what you’ll be delving into in the summer months! You can contact me on twitter @LittleMemoirs or sign up to my newsletter below and find out when I’m reading these books! I’ll be sharing some info over on my IG story in June!

happy reading!
