Quick Thoughts: The chemistry between Eden and Linc is off-the-page magnetic, and wholly vulnerable at the same time. Kay’s writing really pulls you in from the get-go, and I found the entire world of Paladin so fascinating. This was entirely compelling, irresistibly steamy and will be dark romance reader’s new obsession.

From the BookTok bestselling author of Camera Shy comes a darkly addictive series that blends danger, devotion, and desire.
Eden:
Where I come from, there’s no forgiveness for a whistleblower, even if I saved countless lives. Unemployed, with a wrecked reputation, my only option is a pity job as a leadership consultant for a secret, government-employed team of assassins.
After moving clear across the country, I thought I’d feel safe from the ones who want revenge for my so-called valor, but then I meet him. Linc. The ghost in the shadows, who will never be seen for the hero he is.
I should probably be intimidated by the most lethal assassin PALADIN employs, except the monster has the kindest eyes when he’s looking at me. Still, the question remains of who I should fear more…
The ones who are after me or the ones who promised to protect me.
Linc:
I love the way she screams my name, but I like how she whispers it too.
I vowed to never get attached, but Eden has a hold on me that no one has before. She’s the light and until her, I didn’t realize how lonely the darkness is.
Forget PALADIN’s rules. I refuse to let her go. I’ve finally found what’s precious to me and now I have to keep her close, defend her fiercely. She’s mine to pleasure and protect.
And whoever keeps threatening Eden’s life, is going to lose theirs.
My Review
When we meet Eden, we learn that she’s a whistleblower for the company she works at after discovering troubling plans developing within the structure. But instead of being seen as someone who had good intentions, she’s cast as some kind of instigator of ruin, like it’s her fault. Pushed out and the victim of a looming revenge, she’s offered an illusive job within a secret government team, something that rocks her world. Assassins and killers was never part of the plan for her life, yet when she meets Linc who works for Paladin, his job should scare her—so why does she feel like she doesn’t need to be scared when she’s with him, a killer?
Linc has learned the hard way to never get attached and to always do the job properly, efficiently and quickly, and move on. But Eden feels different. She’s not supposed to be able to worm her way into his heart, yet does so effortlessly, and he doesn’t care about breaking the rules to make her stay there. His bland, vacant world has never felt so full since she came along, so when her life is on the line, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe. And for Eden, it means trusting that the killers protecting her are safer than the ones wanting to shut her up for good.
It takes a very specific kind of dark romance to get my attention, but when one does, it’s books like Whistleblower that I’m drawn to like a moth to a flame. The chemistry between Eden and Linc is off-the-page magnetic, and wholly vulnerable at the same time. Kay’s writing really pulls you in from the get-go, and I found the entire world of Paladin so fascinating. Eden’s voice was my favourite to read, yet Linc’s character development was the star of the book, and the way Kay gets you to root for them even before they are a sure thing is truly the kind of intoxicatingly spicy romance that I eat up. I am so excited to continue this series, and have Tattletale ready and waiting to dive into next. This was entirely compelling, irresistibly steamy and will be dark romance reader’s new obsession.
